World Vision International Nepal introduced two new Area Development Programmes in July 2009, pilot testing the Integrated Programme Model (IPM) with Udayapur IPM being one of them. Udayapur district is located in the Sagarmatha Zone, of the South Eastern Region of Nepal. The total population of the district is 287,698 and the human development index of Udayapur is ranked 31st out of 75. The district is divided into 44 Village Development Committees (VDCs) and one municipality. Udayapur is home for Chettris, Rais, Magars, Tharus, Bhramins and Tamangs. Udayapur has a below-average adult literacy rate of 53.6%. Agriculture is the main means of living for Udayapur people. Currently, a team of three, led by Udayapur IPM team leader Saroj Chettri, is undergoing an assessment of Udayapur Area. Udayapur IPM is funded by World Vision Taiwan and lies in the eastern hill adjoining WVIN Sunsari ADP.
